Great food, great beer but service ruins it. Truffle fries came out cold. I let them know immediately and they brought a second cold plate of fries, and nobody seemed to care that we now had two large plates of untouched fries.

Great beer. Flew in from North Carolina and found the brewery to be reminiscent of back home. Did not eat but just enjoyed the beers. Great location downtown. Need to start distribution in Charlotte. Start with Total Wine.

My wife and I stopped here on a road trip back home from Minnesota. It was a perfect stop. Got 3 amazing beers and some calamari and a dang good burger! Afterward we took a walk around the park and headed home! We'll definitely be stopping again.

5 stars for the venue, atmosphere, and ambience. 3 stars for the beer quality.

I had the CG Nebula. My wife and I enjoyed the chicken tender platter, which comes with fries. The beer, chicken, and fries were delicious. The brewery is an amazing place to have an excellent beer and something good to eat. It is a very downtown atmosphere in the brewery.

Had chicken bruschetta and lobsters ravioli both were great. Very good service.

The food and beer is great as well as the service. My dog found the dog-friendly patio to be a very relaxing atmosphere filled with people wanting to give her a few pets.

Delicious beers. I had a stout and a sour. Crab dip was tasty, with really soft pretzel bites and corn chips. Grilled cheese with sriracha coleslaw topped things off

$3 brews on Sundays. Good selection!

Started out a little shaky, sat down at the bar and didn't get greeted/served for about 5 minutes but they were getting crushed. Other than that it has been fantastic. Went with the GG and Sir Moch-a-lot both very good and had some serious reservations about ordering the Beatnik Salad...do it, it was outstanding! Very pleased, will be back (and will order the Beatnik Salad again.)

First time here and first time in Des Moines and stopped for a quick bite on our way through. Got a Cuban sandwich for lunch. That was a damn good cuban. Fries were good too! Beer was really tasty. They had a couple good new England IPA on tap! If only i was closer to this place I'd be here a lot!

The best brewery in Des Moines and one of the best places to go after work or for a dinner occasion.

Service was good considering the crowd, however everyone in my group of 8 did not like their food. The burgers lacked taste and were slightly burned, the fries tasted like they just came out of a toaster oven. By far the worst value for the money restaurant in downtown des moines.

Good hamburgers. An American experience!

Beer is pretty good but the food is why I come here!!!

Good beer, good service, and delicious food. They everything from sours to traditional IPAs. They have a standard 6 house beers and then a couple seasonals that add an interesting twist. Their food was the same way, several healthy and not so healthy options. I opted for the brussel sprouts as my side and they were incredible with a little bacon and parmesan cheese. Look forward to coming back.

Great beer and atmosphere!

Great atmosphere, food & service. The pretzel buns are to die for. Perfect for a casual lunch.

Simply great food and beer. Top ten Burger's I have eaten (exile burger).

Great bar food, everything I have had is has been great so far. I tried the Cuban sandwich today and do not regret it at all. The mustard was not over powering and had a good balance of contents and flavor. I really like the decor here, especially their lights. One set are upside down troughs, which I thought was an usual use of material. Their patio is in the shade in the afternoon which can make it more comfortable in summer. The one downside of this place is their restroom is in the basement. I feel the stairs are kind of steep and if you have issues navigating stairs this may not be the best place for you.

The pulled pork sandwich is awesome with sweet potato fries.
Jason King
Great atmosphere and amazing food. Kids menu was perfect for my kiddos.
Mike Whitney
The truffle fries and cheese curds as an appetizer were awesome. I went with the fish and chips and thought it would be a smaller meal since it only had one piece of fish. The fish was huge, very generous amount of fries also. And if course you can't go wrong with a Ruthie to wash it all down with.

Stopped at Exile, while visiting Des Moines. Glad I did. I love Ruthie!! Its a great beer. The Chicken sandwich was killer. Exile Brewery would fit right in Portland Oregon's craft brew scene. I'll swing by the next time I'm in Des Moines.

Very good beer, some of the best sours I've had. Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Appetizers were better than the entree's.

Came here for a tour, and then hung out for some beer and food as well! Our tour guide was fun and very informative, we really enjoyed ourselves. You get a glass to keep, as well as 4 half pours, for only $10. Our food was also delicious. I would specifically recommend the salmon and avocado sandwich, as well as the truffle fries. Our server Cedric was awesome!!! Would definitely recommend hanging out on Exile’s patio on a warm afternoon or evening.

Nice atmosphere. They offer the options to sit on the restaurant side or the bar side with the patio. We were lucky enough to be granted a warm enough day in March to enjoy the patio! The chicken sandwich was a solid option and I was a big fan of the vegetables platter. Decent prices and great service during our visit, we'll be back again.

Great food and beer. The service was outstanding. As Arnold would say, I'll be back!
Eric Mason
Awesome food, great server. Fun time to celebrate my daughter and future son in law's engagement party.

Wonderful atmosphere and service! The outside tables were in a nice location with some beautiful views of the city. Food was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Wonderful wait staff were courteous and wonderful. Perfect way to end the day after an Iowa Wild hockey game!
Nicole Morisco
Service was really good. Beer flights were filled pretty well and were good! Beer cheese soup was ok but really watery. The exile burger was pretty good and the truffle fries were alright. Crab dip and pretzel bites were good but the tortilla chips were ok.
Ashley Meyer
Really great! I recommend the lamb sliders. Best thing on the menu!

Came from Ames to Des Moines simply to pick up a bunch of Blackberry Bohemian for the weekend. Even on a busy night they checked us out super quick and even gifted us some beautiful glasses!! Great to their customers along with amazing beer!!

Delicious food, relaxing indoor/outdoor atmosphere

I go here fairly often for lunch since it's close to where I work. They have a great food selection and nice overall atmosphere. The staff is super friendly!

I just really like their sour beer. Food is pretty good but I really just go there for drinks.
Walter Ritchey
Fish and chips was amazing. Fish melts in your mouth. We had the Hannah beer and it was so smooth, very good. Fantastic service, highly recommend!
Kyle Sarr-Dietershagen
The burger was good but greasy. The seasonal beer very good.
Matthew Thomas
Food was good. A lot of options. My girlfriend and I aren’t drinkers (anymore), so I can’t speak to the beers. The dessert options didn’t catch my eye, so we passed. I would come here again but I don’t live in Iowa. Ha
Laura Hansen
Excellent food and drinks! I appreciate that some of the menu is seasonal rotational. The portobello mushroom sandwich (vegetarian) was delicious.
Kenni Terrell
Brews are a classic Iowa staple. We came in during a busy time and were able to be seated at the bar.
Holly Tjaden
The atmosphere is great for all types! They have a bar area and a dining area with comfy booths. I noticed the temperature was very comfortable without any breezes. We came at lunch time. We ordered the Hannah and Ruth beers. They were both very good, definitely ordered 2 rounds! Food wise we ordered Beer Cheddar soup and Cesar salad which were great. The soup was very perfect hot temperatures. We also ordered Chicken salad with creamy parmesean dressing. It was very well prepared. The prices were great and very reasonable. We will be returning for a night time experience!! I would highly recommend to anyone who needs a new place to go!
Danelle Hungerford
Cool brewery. Beer is pretty good. Good service and good atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves and I'm sure well be back.

While the beer was good, the food left a lot to be desired. While I understand it's a brewery 1st and foremost. The beer cheese soup I got was like water, my chicken sandwich had no flavor besides the bacon and the salmon sandwich was bland as well. The prices do not match the quality of the food. It was a shame we drove there from Omaha to pick up something and then decided to grab food from the brewery. The side we were on was not busy and the other side did not seem that busy either. I'm hoping it was an off time for them, but to be honest we won't go back. On a side note the fries are good. But past that good wise I'm not sure.

Exile is AMAZING! From the food, to the staff, to the ambience. I was coming from out of town and decided to celebrate my birthday early with family and friends that live in Des Moines. I had made a last minute reservation for 15 people. The waiter was attentive, drinks always full. Food came quickly, but not too fast so we could still talk and catch up. The food was delicious! I'm already wishing I could go back and eat there again and try something new. The beer as well is excellent! They were wonderful! Thank you so much for a great night and being so accommodating!

When we're in Des Moines we have to stop here. Great food & beer, upbeat ambience. Outside and bar area has lighter fare... inside is more substantial, but all is good. You just can't go wrong... Kudos!!!
